This political cartoon is giving the message that we didn't really have the right to choose to end our own life. Someone who suffered and couldn't enjoy life anymore that wanted someone to help him/her die to end the pain had the main obstacle be the law that determined whether or not they could've made that choice. In this political cartoon, the patient barely alive is reaching for the button, the button to end his life, but the law is the one that has the off switch for the patient. The patient is representing all the terminally ill people that wants to end their life because they're strapped by illnesses/machines/disabilities and the people that are holding the gavel represents the people that will decide the decision of the the patients.
